The Perfect Amsterdam Itinerary

Day 1 – Arrive in Amsterdam and check into your hotel or Airbnb.  Today will you simply walk around the streets of the Red Light District and the surrounding Centrum canals.  Making sure to stop at Dam Square, Rembrandtplein and Damrak.  If you are in Amsterdam to partake in their cannabis shops, this is a perfect time to swing on in to one of the Red Light District’s many cafes.  After walking through the canals and side streets letting the day take you wherever it wants, you will have reservations at Daalder that evening where you will indulge in a multi-course tasting menu with their perfect half glass wine pairings.  That evening walk off the filling meal and wine you just indulged in by walking along the canals back to your hotel or Airbnb.

Day 2 – Wake up early and grab a coffee at the nearest local cafe to the place you are staying.  Either rent bikes and go riding through Amsterdams many parks or take a small boat morning cruise tour along the canals.  After your bike ride or cruise have brunch at Dignita or Pancakes at Pannenkoekenhuis Upstairs.  That afternoon head to Museumplein to visit either the Rijksmuseum or the Van Gogh Museum or both if you have time.  After the museums walk through the street of Zevenlandenhuizen and check out the seven houses dedicated to the seven different architectural styles of different European nations.  Head toward the Oost section of the city where you’ll grab a flight of beers at Brewerji ’t IJ.  That evening make a selection from our top 21 restaurants and have a reservation made in advance.

Day 3 – Today you will take a day trip to the Windmills, Zane Schans, Marken and Volendam and have dinner at another of our top 21 restaurants.

Day 4 – Today is a relaxing day filled with wandering the streets of Amsterdam and sampling the many different foods and drinks of the region.  Don’t plan on eating a big breakfast, you’ll be grazing all day.  Grab a coffee and split a stroopwaffel with your travel companion in the morning.  Have a cheese and wine pairing set up at either Reypenaer or Old Amsterdam Cheese Company for around noon.  Walk around the Nine Streets and do some shopping before heading to Food Hallen to continue grazing on food for lunch.   That evening you’ll take the boat to Vuurtoreneiland for their incredibly unique dining experience.

Day 5 – Do the chocolate tasting at Cacao & Spice around noon.  After that, take the free ferry to Amsterdam Noord to check out the NDSM Warf and Cafe de Ceuvel.  That evening have dinner at Stork.

 

Day 6 – Leave Amsterdam.
