Beilstein

Beilstein is the perfect Mosel River town, a charming and quaint little town based around its hillside vineyards along one of Germany’s most scenic rivers.  People have been living in Beilstein since 800AD and the main layout of the town has been in place since the mid 1200s.  The little streets are dotted with cute cafes, wine shops, wine tasting cellars and restaurants, all of which are covered in vines, flowers and moss.  The main street in town climbs the nearby hills to reach a 15th century castle ruins where there’s a fantastic biergarten and restaurant.

This small riverside town is an absolute must stop on any Mosel River cruise or simply for a day trip from the Landstuhl/Ramstein/Kaiserslautern area.  The best part is that it is entirely non-touristy.  It is as authentic, genuine and local as you’re going to find.  We couldn’t possibly recommend this untouched, perfect German town any more than we already do.  It’s perfect for couples or small groups of friends that want to do some great wine tastings and have some delicious lunch or dinner.
