Riquewihr

Renowned for its picturesque hillside vineyards, delicious wines and adorable half-timbered Disney fairytale-esque houses, Riquewihr is simply one of the most stunning little towns in all of Alsace and quite possibly all of France.  A medieval village, that despite its popularity amongst tourists, retains a rustic, archaic charm that is second to none.  One of the loveliest looking towns of the Haut-Rhin region of France, this quaint little village has much to offer.

This charming little town is the very village that Disney animators used to base their drawings on for the town that Belle is from in Beauty and the Beast.  It lives up to this fairytale ideal in all ways but one.  On most days there is a ton of tourists visiting the town for the same reasons you are.  You absolutely have to visit Riquewihr if you’re in the area, but if you’re looking for a place to stay, there are smaller less famous towns that are just as pretty and charming.
